Would you like to split a route into two separate parts? Don’t worry, it’s quick and easy! Follow these detailed steps:
1 - Open your route
Start by opening the route you want to split in the OpenRunner route editor.
2 - Select the split point
Identify the exact point where you want to divide your route.
Click directly on this waypoint (see how to insert a new waypoint).
A small pop-up window will appear, offering several options.
3 - Split the route
Click on the “Split route” option.
Your route will automatically be divided into two separate parts.
4 - View the two new routes
Once the split is complete, two new routes will appear at the top of the map:
The original route remains unchanged.
The two new segments are created and displayed as independent routes.
For clarity, you can customise the appearance of the tracks (for example, by changing the colour or style).
5 - Save your routes
Don’t forget to click “Save” to keep your changes. This ensures that your new segments and the original route are all accessible in your OpenRunner account.
Why split a route?
Splitting a route can be useful in several situations:
Multi-stage planning: Create sections to better organise your outings.
Detailed analysis: Study each segment separately to assess distances, elevation or points of interest.
Custom sharing: Share only a section of the route with other users.
With this guide, you now have everything you need to split your routes effectively in OpenRunner.
