Activity recording issues on Android

The app stops recording when the smartphone is in standby

The following advice should only be followed if you experience activity recording issues (recording stops, long straight lines).

Huawei

By following this advice, you should resolve the issue:

• Go to the Settings app on your phone. Click on Battery > App Launch. Uncheck OpenRunner from the list. A window will open with 3 options (Auto-launch, Secondary launch, Background running). Make sure these 3 options are checked, or check them, then click "OK".
• Also, ensure that your phone is not in power-saving mode or that it doesn’t automatically activate this mode when in standby. This mode often prevents access to your location.
• Turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your smartphone when performing your activity.
• Start the activity when you are already outside without obstacles between you and the sky, then wait a few seconds (maximum 10) before starting to move, so that your position is properly established and the first altitude data is displayed.
• Check in the OpenRunner app that the setting in More > Activity recording -> Recording quality is set to precise or eco.

Xiaomi

To allow apps like OpenRunner to run in the background, you need to change some default settings.
How to do this?

• Go to your phone's settings
• Click on Apps and notifications
• Find OpenRunner and click on it
• Click on Data usage and allow background data and unrestricted data usage
• Go to "Battery usage" and click on background activity restriction. Allow in background
• Click on Battery optimisation. Allow OpenRunner among the non-optimised apps.

You can also try locking the app so that the system is not allowed to optimise it. To do this, open the list of running apps (this should be one of the buttons on your phone), then swipe the OpenRunner app down. A padlock icon will appear next to the app, indicating that it is locked.
