Starting Tuesday, April 28, your routes can be transferred directly from OpenRunner to your GPS via Garmin Connect, without going through Garmin IQ.
These changes will take effect immediately on the OpenRunner website and in the next version of the OpenRunner app: 2.13.0.
What’s changing
On the OpenRunner app or website
For the transfer to work, you simply need to:
- have your GPS connected to the Garmin Connect app
- click on the options of a route, then select Send to Garmin Connect
The route is then sent directly to your GPS.
On your GPS
You will find the route in the Navigation → Courses menu on your device. There is no longer any need to use the IQ - OpenRunner app to download the route.
The IQ - OpenRunner app is no longer needed and can be uninstalled from your device. It will stop working in a few weeks.
Limitations
Long routes (> 600 km) cannot be sent directly (limit of 10,000 points). In this case, you must use this transfer method: https://support.openrunner.com/hc/en-gb/articles/9294182854940-Send-an-OpenRunner-route-to-a-GPS-bike-computer-or-watch and open the GPX file with Garmin Connect.
