This article presents the main updates introduced in version 2.10.0 of the OpenRunner app, particularly regarding the map selector, GPX import and quick access to features via the new + button.
New map selector
The map selector has been redesigned to provide simpler and more consistent navigation between different base maps and display options.
Base maps
Base maps are now grouped according to their geographical coverage:
Worldwide coverage maps (OpenStreetMap maps, Satellite)
National coverage maps (IGN France, Belgium, SwissTopo, etc.)
This grouping makes it easier to choose the most suitable map depending on the area where you are planning or following your activity.
Available layers
Layers are now accessible regardless of the selected base map.
You can therefore enable or disable useful information without having to switch base maps.
Mountain passes
Mountain passes have been moved to the bottom of the list of available items in the map selector to improve readability and overall menu organisation.
Simplified GPX import
GPX file import has been improved.
It is now possible to follow a route from a GPX file without creating an OpenRunner route.
This update allows for faster and more flexible use of GPX tracks, particularly for occasional tracking or imported activities.
New + button
The activity start button has been replaced with a + button, designed to provide quicker access to the main features.
From this button, you can now:
Start recording an activity
Create a route
Import a GPX file
This new entry point centralises the app’s key actions.
