Do you want to plot a custom route by adding or removing points? Follow these steps to quickly and efficiently create your route.
Access the Route Editor
- Open the route editor on OpenRunner.
- Click “Create” to start plotting from a blank map.
Select the Path Tracking Mode
The path tracking mode determines how your route is drawn based on your chosen activity:
- Hiking / Running / Trail Running: Roads, cycle paths and greenways, forest tracks, farm tracks, fire roads (DFCI), trails.
- Road Biking: Roads, cycle paths and greenways.
- Gravel Biking / Bike Touring: Roads, cycle paths and greenways, forest tracks, farm tracks, fire roads (DFCI), certain trails.
- Car: Roads and certain tracks only.
- None: Straight-line plotting between points.
For MTB routes, use the “Hiking” mode, which includes all trails. Always check route feasibility before finalizing.
Add the First Point to Your Route
- Start point: Click on the map where you want your route to begin. This point will be marked as “S” (Start).
- End point: Click where you want your route to finish. This point will be marked as “F” (Finish).
- Plot the route: OpenRunner will automatically calculate the route according to the selected path tracking mode.
- Add points: Continue clicking on the map to extend your route.
