You’ve found an interesting route on OpenRunner, but want to make a few changes?
Here’s how to duplicate and edit it easily from the website or the mobile app.
From the website
1. Access the route search
Open the main menu and click “Search for a route.”
The results list shows all public routes shared on OpenRunner.
2. Select the route to duplicate
Click the thumbnail of the route or directly on its trace on the map.
A popup window will appear with several options.
3. Add the route to the editor
In this window, click “Add a copy to the editor” (icon with two overlapping squares).
A notification will confirm that the route has been added and indicate how many routes are currently open in the editor.
4. Find the duplicated route
Go to the “Route Editor” tab available from the main menu.
The duplicated route is now ready to be modified, compared, or customized.
From a public route page
Open the route page you want to duplicate.
Click the three vertical dots at the top right of the page.
Select “Add to editor.”
The route will be added to the editor, and a notification will confirm the number of open routes.
From the mobile app
From the page of a public route (not your own)
Open the route page.
Tap the three vertical dots in the top-right corner.
Select “Duplicate and edit route.”
A copy of the route will automatically be added to your account and opened in the mobile editor for modification.
Why duplicate a route?
Adapt an existing itinerary: adjust sections that don’t match your needs.
Create a personalized version: add new waypoints or modify the start and end points.
Prepare an event or workout: start from a community route and tailor it to your activity.
Summary
With these simple steps, customizing a community route is quick and easy.
You can create your own variations, explore new ideas, and optimize your routes directly in OpenRunner — both on the website and in the mobile app.
